FAQ's
What are the main benefits of grit sand?
Grit sand is an extremely popular type of aggregate that is used largely for construction purposes. One of the main benefits of grit sand is that it provides fantastic drainage which makes it the ideal type of aggregate for using as a foundation layer for paving and patios in landscaping. Secondly, grit sand also has low silt and clay content within its composition which helps to prevent potential erosion on paving slabs. Grit sand truly provides an array of benefits for construction.
What type of projects is grit sand used for?
As previously mentioned, grit sand is commonly used for construction purposes. For example, when building patios or laying paving courses, driveways or paths. Moreover, grit sand is also regularly mixed with concrete for a multitude of other construction projects due to the fact that it provides much more strength and less flexibility when compared to alternative building sands that are on offer in today’s market.
What is the difference between building sand and grit sand?
This is a commonly asked question that our team at Baldwin’s Landscape Supplies are asked frequently. Typical building sand does what it says on the tin and is normally used for the likes of bricklaying. On the other hand, grit sand, also commonly referred to as washed sharp sand, provides a multitude of uses and can be added to other aggregates. With grit sand, you can expect increased flexibility, and more consistency.
How much do I need to order?
Another great question. This of course will depend on a few variable factors such as whether you are a domestic customer or trade customer. Moreover, this will also depend on the type of project that you are due to undertake. But don’t worry, our team at Baldwin’s Landscape Supplies are here to offer our expertise and advice to ensure that you are ordering the correct quantity so that you’re getting maximum value for money.
